Dreaming Big With My #Oneword This Year!
Many people have high hopes that 2021 will be better than the year we just ushered out. I certainly yearn to get back to some basic routines, like hugging a friend or being able to meet a colleague for coffee without concern of getting or spreading any virus.
It’s those simple pleasures that often mean the most. I relish those moments and I do appreciate the small, often overlooked times in my everyday activities. They are important. But this year, I’m ready for some big happenings, too!
This year, 2021, I’m making #dream my #oneword because I’m ready to dream big.
Celebrating 20 years
In 2001, I started my consulting practice. As I embark on the 20th anniversary of this journey, I have reflected on the challenges, the successes, and the many hopes I have always had to make a difference in our workplace cultures.
Many of you may recall that I like to plan my year using the #oneword philosophy. It’s a fun way to organize my thoughts and priorities, so I can look at how to accomplish things that are important to me over the coming 12 months. It also provides a structure for me to celebrate the things achieved in the last year.
The global pandemic created some obstacles in my 2020 #oneword—#adventure. But strangely, as I read through my hopes, nearly everything on my list did become a reality.
What lies ahead
Now, I feel both poised and ready to hit a new stride – personally and professionally. Here are a few of my dreams for 2021:
- Reach exponentially more clients with our PXT Select, Everything DiSC, and Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team programs.
- Partner with clients that are committed to personal development, kindness, and authenticity.
- Be healthy and active, spending time routinely walking, golfing, swimming, kayaking, and practicing yoga.
- Ensure that all these things are done with ease, balancing time for self and others.
- Give back more, to all I can.
These feel big, exciting, and they light me up, which is what I think any good intention should do. And I like the crossover between my work, my health, and my family & friends. I think 2020 has clarified how interconnected all these elements of our lives are.
So how about you? What personal/professional/creative/kind/wild/exciting intention is at the forefront for 2021? What’s your #oneword? Leave a comment or better yet, give me a call. I’d love to learn more about what the year ahead holds for you, too.
